Are you grateful to God?
Thankful for the conquests you have achieved ? When you get up, do you thank God for another good night's sleep and for the new day ? for the food of the day, for the sun and the rain ? For the love God has for you and all the simple things in your everyday life ?
Being thankful is something we should do every day, because every day God grants us good things and every day He is by our side.
But, many times we forget to thank Him because we are always asking, and we get so focused on what we want that we forget everything He has already given us.
How can we have a bigger house if we are not grateful for the house we have now ? How can we have a better car if we are not grateful for the car we have now ? How can we have a better job if we are not thankful for what we have now?
And most of us says "Oh my Lord, when I have a bigger house I will be so happy and so grateful to you. - So why not be grateful now ? Why not be so happy now?
"When I have a better car, I'll take better care of it. - So why not take better care of the car you have now? Why not be grateful for this car now?
"When I get a better job, I'll do my best. - Why not do your best now?
How can we ask God for something better if we are not thankful for what we have now ? Why aren't we happy for what we have now ? We are always asking more and more and thanking less and less.
Once, I watched a video on youtube, which I no longer remember the name, and had a very strong message that touched me a lot. This message said: "God will never give you something better while what he has already given you is not the reason for your gratitude".
We need to be more grateful for everything and especially for the simplest things of my day to day. We must thank Him for every little detail, thank him for giving His only son to die on the cross and save us, thank Him for his love and for being so merciful to us.
And always give thanks in our prayers. Here is a short prayer that you can use to make your prayers of gratitude.
"Lord, I thank you for one more chance, thank you for everything you have given me and give me. For the joy of living, for my family, for my friends, for the air I breathe, for the gifts you gave me, for choosing me, for the relationships that allow me to grow every day, and for everything. Thank you, Lord, for the opportunities you have given me to witness the Love with which you love me and all people. Thank You, Father, for Your forgiveness and for giving me a full and abundant life. Lord, to You who are the Creator of all that I am and all that I possess, I dedicate my life, asking that I may always see and do Your will, Amen!"
